Smocking - traditional smocks

  • extensive experience of creating smocks for individuals and historical societies/museums.
  • smocks created for various trades folk including (amongst others) carpenter, thatcher, hurdle maker, artist, cider maker, musician, printer and Morris side caller, as well as smocks for children.

  • worked to your requirements - fabric, colour, style and Dorset feather stitch details.

  • three measurements needed - chest, sleeve length from shoulder to cuff and finished length from nape to hem.

  • cost depends on the complexity of the commission and the materials used, an estimate for overall price and approximate timescale will always be given.

Dorset Buttons - traditional

  • very experienced button maker.

  • creates buttons for historical re-enactment, film costumes and period costume dramas - made buttons for the BBC drama 'Poldark'.

  • happy to undertake orders, from one special button to a set of one hundred. 

  • choose size, colours and style -Dorset cross wheels can be matched to existing fabric or made using your thread, Singleton buttons using your fabric (if suitable).

  • buttons are finished on the back with a hand worked loop or bar to act as a shank.

  • sets of buttons and single 'feature' buttons are available from my shop for your guidance as to size and styles.

  • most of the Dorset button jewellery, gift items and children's buttons that you will find at my on-line shop can be made to order.

Orders - General Guidelines

  • please contact me for further advice or guidance before placing an order.

  • full price (or estimated price) to be paid in advance before work can commence.

  • payment in GB pounds only, which can be made by credit or debit card, using the secure link provided with my invoice or using PayPal.

  • estimate of time to undertake commission will be provided at time of ordering.

  • orders will be dispatched using a tracked and signed for postal service.

  • worldwide orders accepted.

  • returns are not permitted for special orders, unless there is a fault.
